The LEPOWER 3,500 lumen hardwired flood is the brightest motion light I'd install on a residential property without lighting up the neighborhood. Three adjustable heads cover wide driveways with a single fixture, and the IP65 weather rating handled two years of rain and snow without issue. The sensor reaches roughly 70 feet of detection range with a 180 degree sweep. Sensitivity and on-time are adjustable on the housing. Battery in the sensor lasts roughly 18 months. Only makes sense if you're already in the Hue system.
Mr Beams MB360XT-WHT
The Mr Beams MB360XT is the battery powered spotlight I'd hang in a shed, garage, or any space without wiring. Four D batteries deliver roughly a year of typical use, and the 200 lumen output is bright enough to light a 12 by 12 foot workspace. Motion sensing reaches about 25 feet. The screw mount works on wood, drywall, or stucco. I keep one in my detached shed where running wire isn't worth the effort. Easy install, no app, no fuss. Great pick when you want light without electrical work.

What to consider
Match power source to install location. Outdoor walkways without sun cover, choose solar. Wired outdoor floods, pick LEPOWER class hardwired units sized to your area in lumens. Indoor battery powered makes sense in closets, pantries, basements, and sheds where running wire isn't worth it. Smart system integration through Hue or Ring is worth the premium only if you already use that ecosystem. Always check the detection range and field of view to match the space. Oversized sensors cause false triggers from neighbors and traffic.
FAQs
False triggers usually come from passing cars headlights, hot exhaust, swaying branches in IR view, small animals, or sun warming a nearby surface. Adjusting sensitivity down and re-aiming the sensor away from the street solves most of these.
Solar lights work in winter as long as the panel gets at least 4 hours of direct sun daily. Snow on panels and short days reduce runtime. Expect 30 to 50 percent fewer triggers per night versus summer.
