Braun Series 9 Beard Trimmer
If your beard is longer than half an inch, Braun is the one. The wider blade caught more hair per pass, and I finished a full trim almost a minute faster than the Philips. Battery life was the best of the group at 110 minutes. The trade off is that detail work around the mustache requires a swap to the smaller comb, which adds a step. For a full bearded look I would buy this again.
Panasonic ER-GB96
The Panasonic is built like a workshop tool. The cutting head is narrow on purpose, and that narrow head is exactly what you want when you are walking the trimmer along a cheek line or carving out a chin strap. I clipped my neckline with the smallest comb and the edges came out crisp and parallel. Battery life is shorter than the others at 75 minutes, but I have never run out mid trim.
Wahl Stainless Steel Lithium
Wahl makes barbershop tools, and the Stainless Steel Lithium feels like the consumer version of that pedigree. It can run corded if the battery dies, which has saved me on travel days.
