Bellroy Phone Pocket
The Bellroy is the sleeve I gift most often. It is leather on the outside, soft microfiber inside, and has a small card slot on the back for an ID or a key card. The snap closure feels reassuring when the phone is in a bag with other gear. It ages into a beautiful patina, and after a year mine looks better than new.
I have tried dozens of phone sleeves over the years. These five are the ones I actually trust to protect my phone without ruining the feel.
I went sleeve only a few years ago after getting tired of bulky cases. The right sleeve protects the phone in a pocket or bag, then disappears the moment you pull it out. After trying a lot of them, here are the five I keep recommending.
| Sleeve | Material | Closure | Best For |
| — | — | — | — |
| Bellroy Phone Pocket | Leather | Snap | Everyday carry |
| Waterfield Suede Jacket | Suede | Slip | Soft fit |
| Mujjo Leather Sleeve | Leather | Slip | Minimal style |
| Inateck Felt Sleeve | Felt and leather | Slip | Affordable |

Reviewed in detail
Bellroy Phone Pocket
The Bellroy is the sleeve I gift most often. It is leather on the outside, soft microfiber inside, and has a small card slot on the back for an ID or a key card. The snap closure feels reassuring when the phone is in a bag with other gear. It ages into a beautiful patina, and after a year mine looks better than new.
Waterfield Suede Jacket
If you want the softest possible fit, this is it. The suede grips the phone gently so it never slips out in a pocket, but releases cleanly when you pull. There is no metal hardware to scratch the screen. I use mine for hiking and bike rides because the texture stays put.
Mujjo Leather Sleeve
Mujjo makes the cleanest looking sleeve in the lineup. It is a single piece of vegetable tanned leather with a felted interior. There is a small thumb cutout that lets you push the phone out smoothly. The minimal style works well in dress pockets where a bulky case would print through.

Inateck Felt Sleeve
The Inateck is the value pick. It uses thick wool felt with leather trim, and includes a small front pocket for cards or AirPods. The price is low enough that you can rotate two or three for different colors. The felt does pill slightly over a year of heavy use.

Nomad Leather Sleeve
Nomad uses Horween Chromexcel leather, which is the same hide used in high end boots. It develops a rich patina faster than any other sleeve I compared. The fit is precise to specific phone models, so check the size before buying. This is the one I use as my daily carry.
Common questions
A sleeve protects the screen and back without adding bulk to the phone while you use it. You slide the phone in and out, so the device stays slim in hand.
Sleeves come off before you charge, so wireless charging is unaffected. That is one of their advantages over thick cases.
