Brightness rating
92 is the standard for quality office paper. Below 90, text can appear gray and color reproduction suffers. Above 94 is premium presentation territory and usually costs more than needed for everyday copying.
Weight (lb or gsm)
Standard office copying uses 20 lb (75 gsm). Heavier weights (24 lb, 28 lb, 32 lb) are better for presentations, cover sheets, and important documents. Lighter weights (16 lb) are inappropriate for most copying tasks.
Jam-free guarantee
Some manufacturers offer jam-free guarantees backed by actual performance data. This is a meaningful quality indicator - not all brands can make this claim credibly.
