Coolaroo Original Elevated Dog Bed
The Coolaroo is the bed that started it all. Steel frame, breathable knit fabric, and it lasted through two summers in my backyard before the fabric started to fade. Easy to assemble, easy to hose off, and you can buy replacement covers when they wear out. Three sizes fit dogs from terrier to mastiff.

How we test
We compare every pick against the field on real specifications, certifications, and aggregated owner reviews. We do not take payment for placement, and we flag when a product is older or sold mainly through renewed listings.

K&H Pet Products Original Pet Cot
The K&H Original Pet Cot is the upgrade over the Coolaroo. Stronger steel frame, beefier fabric, and the corner connectors are reinforced. I have had mine for three years with two 75-pound labs and it is still tight. Available with a removable bolster if your dog likes a pillow edge.

Kuranda All-Aluminum Dog Bed
The Kuranda is the indestructible option. Aluminum frame, heavy ballistic nylon fabric, and a chew-proof design that has been used in shelters for decades. Pricier than Coolaroo, but if you have a destructive dog or a chewer, this is the only bed I would trust.

Frisco Steel-Framed Elevated Dog Bed
The Frisco is the budget Chewy house brand and a solid choice for casual use. Steel frame, mesh fabric, very similar to a Coolaroo at a slightly lower price. The mesh weave is a bit less dense, so it does not last as long in direct sun, but indoors it is fine.
Veehoo Cooling Elevated Dog Bed
The Veehoo is a fabric-mesh cot with reinforced corners and a slightly raised lip on the edges to prevent dogs from sliding off. Comes in fun colors if that matters to you. Holds up to 90 pounds on the large size. Solid daily-use bed at a fair price.
FAQs
Yes, in most cases. Getting up off the floor is easier on hips and elbows than rising from a flat bed. The taut fabric also distributes weight evenly, which helps dogs with pressure sores or calluses.
PVC frames hold up to chewing, but the fabric is vulnerable. For dedicated chewers, look at aluminum-frame cots with heavy denier fabric like the K&H Original Pet Cot Pro.
