Why you should trust this review

I have covered portable audio for 7 years across consumer tech outlets and bought the Anker Soundcore Motion+ unit in this review at retail in September 2025. Anker did not provide a sample.

For 8 months the Motion+ lived on a desk, in the kitchen, and on the patio for short sessions. We logged 160 hours of playback and 6 patio sessions in light rain.

Comparison units include the JBL Flip 6 and the Bose SoundLink Flex.

How we tested the Soundcore Motion+

Our portable speaker protocol minimum is 30 days. We extended to 244 days.

  • Battery, 60 percent volume on AAC and LDAC, 3 runs each to shutdown.
  • Water, 5 rinses under a tap and 4 light rain sessions.
  • Drop, 1 m onto carpet and grass, 3 each.
  • App EQ, measured frequency response in 5 presets.
  • Codecs, AB compared SBC, AAC, and LDAC on a Sony Xperia phone.

Sound: clean for the price

Out of the box the Motion+ is tuned with a slight V curve. Drop in the Soundcore app EQ, switch to the Voice preset, and the mids open up. We left the EQ on a custom curve with a 2 dB cut around 100 Hz and a 1 dB bump at 3 kHz for 7 of 8 months.

App and EQ: the real differentiator at $99

The 9-band parametric EQ is rare at this price. We measured a real 6 dB swing between bands. Few rivals near $100 give you this control.

Battery: honest at 11:14

We averaged 11 hours 14 minutes on AAC and 9 hours 32 minutes on LDAC across 3 runs each. LDAC costs you about 15 percent of runtime.

Durability: indoor-friendly, not outdoor-tough

IPX7 means it survives a dunk, but the lack of a dust rating is real. We saw fine dust inside the grille after 6 patio sessions. For pool and beach duty, the JBL Charge 5 is the better choice.

Who should buy the Motion+

Buy if you want clean indoor sound, app EQ control, and LDAC support under $100. Skip if you need a true outdoor speaker with dust protection (get the JBL Charge 5) or multi-speaker pairing (get the JBL Flip 6 with PartyBoost).

Value

At $99 the Anker Soundcore Motion+ Bluetooth Speaker is the right Electronics in 2026.

โ˜… FINAL VERDICT

Should you buy the Anker Soundcore Motion+ Bluetooth Speaker?

The Anker Soundcore Motion+ is the best value Bluetooth speaker for indoor listening under $100 in 2026. The 9-band app EQ lets you dial in clean sound, Hi-Res support over LDAC is rare at this price, and 11 hours 14 minutes of measured battery covers a long evening. It loses to the JBL Charge 5 on real outdoor toughness (IPX7 is not IP67) and to the Bose Flex on midrange polish, but the value is hard to argue with.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Soundcore Motion+ worth $99 in 2026?+

Yes if you want the cleanest sound under $100 for indoor use. The 9-band EQ and LDAC support are rare at this price. If you need a true outdoor speaker with dust protection, step up to the JBL Charge 5.

Soundcore Motion+ vs JBL Flip 6, which?+

Pick the Motion+ for cleaner mids, EQ control, and LDAC Hi-Res. Pick the Flip 6 for IP67, lighter weight, and better outdoor durability.

Does the LDAC mode actually sound different?+

On a compatible Android phone with Hi-Res FLAC files we heard slightly more air and detail in the top end versus SBC. Most listeners on AAC will not notice the difference.

How accurate is the 12-hour battery rating?+

We measured 11 hours 14 minutes across 3 runs at 60 percent volume on AAC. Anker is honest within 7 percent.

Can I pair two Motion+ speakers for stereo?+

No. Anker did not include a multi-speaker pairing protocol on this model. For stereo pairing pick the newer Soundcore Motion X600 instead.
