Why we tested the Stagg EKG

The Stagg EKG launched a wave of designer kettles and remains the one most copied. We have used it daily for a full year now, which is long enough to call out wear, drift, and any quirks.

What we liked

The pour is the star. Slow tight circles for the bloom, a steady spiral for the main pour, all without thinking about it. The counterweighted handle makes a real difference late in a brew when most of the water is gone.

What could be better

Capacity is the only meaningful limitation. If you brew for a family of four or more, you will refill it more than once a morning.

Value

At $195 the Stagg EKG Electric Pour Over Kettle is the right Home & Kitchen in 2026.

โ˜… FINAL VERDICT

Should you buy the Stagg EKG Electric Pour Over Kettle?

The Fellow Stagg EKG is the pour over kettle we recommend to anyone who is serious about brewing. The counterbalanced handle, narrow gooseneck, and one degree variable temperature dial combine to make every pour intentional. After a full year on our counter the brushed steel finish still looks fresh, the temperature accuracy has not drifted, and the new model adds Bluetooth scheduling that we use most mornings. At $195 it is not cheap, but it is the kettle that makes you want to brew every day.

Frequently asked questions

Is the new EKG worth the upgrade from the older model?+

If you have the older EKG and it works, no. If you are buying fresh the latest revision adds Bluetooth scheduling and a small refinement to the temperature display.

Why is the capacity only 0.9L?+

Fellow tuned the kettle for pour over brewers who rarely brew more than four cups at once. For larger batches the Bonavita 1.7L is a better fit.

Does it work for tea too?+

Yes. The fine temperature control is ideal for green and white teas that scorch above 175F.
