Why you should trust this review
I have reviewed home theater and audio gear for 12 years with bylines at major audio publications. The SVS Prime Tower pair in this review was purchased at retail in July 2025. SVS did not provide a sample.
Across 9 months I logged 260 hours of mixed 2-channel music and Dolby Atmos movie duty. The towers paired with a Marantz Cinema 50 and an SVS SB-1000 Pro sub in a 25 sqm room.
Comparison units include the Klipsch RP-8060FA II, Polk Signature Elite ES60, and Pioneer SP-FS52.
How we tested the Prime Tower
The tower protocol minimum is 30 days. We extended to 274 days. Specifically:
- Frequency response sweep, calibrated USB mic at the listening position, 20 Hz to 20 kHz.
- Neutrality panel, 4 reference 2-channel tracks graded by 4 listeners.
- AVR pairing test across the Denon AVR-X3800H, Marantz Cinema 50, and a Schiit Vidar 2 in stereo mode.
- Long-term durability, daily use tracked over 9 months.
- Sub integration test with the SVS SB-1000 Pro.

Who should buy the Prime Tower?
Buy these if you:
- Listen to 2-channel music as your primary use case.
- Value neutrality over dynamics or a bright top end.
- Have an AVR or amp with 80W per channel or more.
- Plan to add a sub later for movie LFE.
Skip these if you:
- Want built-in Atmos elevation. Get the Klipsch RP-8060FA II.
- Drive them with a low-power receiver. The 87 dB sensitivity needs real power.
- Want a forward, dynamic sound. The SVS is intentionally neutral.
Sound quality: neutral and revealing
The Prime Tower delivers what SVS designed for, a flat in-room response with very low cabinet coloration. On well-recorded acoustic material (Diana Krall, Norah Jones, classical) the speakers disappear into the soundstage. On compressed pop, they reveal the recordingโs compromises rather than hiding them.
Neutrality: class-leading at this price
We measured the Prime Tower at plus or minus 2 dB across the listening window from 80 Hz to 16 kHz. That is the flattest in-room response we have measured under $1,200. The Klipsch RP-8060FA II measures plus or minus 4 dB with a clear lift at 5 kHz from the horn.
Bass extension: meaningful sub-bass without a sub
We measured the Prime Tower at minus 3 dB at 31 Hz and minus 10 dB at 26 Hz. For 2-channel music in a 25 sqm room, you can run these full-range. For movies, add a sub.
Build quality and finish
The cabinet is FEA-optimized MDF with a black ash or premium piano gloss finish. After 9 months no rattles, no driver discoloration, and the binding posts have held cable connections through repeated swap testing. The 5-year warranty covers both drivers and electronics.
Value
At $1099 the SVS Prime Tower Speaker Pair is the right Electronics in 2026.

Should you buy the SVS Prime Tower Speaker Pair?
The SVS Prime Tower pair is the most neutral tower system we have tested under $1,200 in 2026. Twin 6.5 inch midbass drivers, a 1 inch aluminum dome tweeter, and a carefully tuned crossover deliver a flat in-room response that rewards good source material. It loses to the Klipsch RP-8060FA II on dynamics and built-in Atmos, but for 2-channel music first, this is the pick.
Frequently asked questions
Is the SVS Prime Tower pair worth $1,099 in 2026?+
Yes if you value neutral response and 2-channel accuracy. The Prime Tower measures flatter than anything we have tested in the under-$1,200 range.
Prime Tower vs Klipsch RP-8060FA II, which?+
Pick the SVS for music neutrality and a smaller cabinet. Pick the Klipsch for dynamics, higher sensitivity, and built-in Atmos elevation.
What amp or AVR should I pair?+
At 87 dB sensitivity, plan for 80W or more per channel. The Denon AVR-X3800H or Marantz Cinema 50 drives these to reference in a 25 sqm room. A budget AVR with 40W per channel will run out of headroom.
How accurate is the 30 Hz bass claim?+
We measured minus 3 dB at 31 Hz and minus 10 dB at 26 Hz. SVS's claim is fair within room and measurement variation.
Do I still need a sub with these?+
For music, no. For movies and Atmos LFE content, yes. The [SVS SB-1000 Pro](/reviews/svs-sb-1000-pro-subwoofer) is the natural match.
