Why you should trust this review

I have reviewed home theater and audio gear for 12 years with bylines at major audio publications. The SVS SB-1000 Pro in this review was purchased at retail in August 2025. SVS did not provide a sample.

Across 8 months I logged 210 hours of mixed music and movie duty. The SB-1000 Pro paired with the SVS Prime Tower pair on a Marantz Cinema 50 AVR in a 22 sqm room.

Comparison units include the SVS PB-1000 Pro, Klipsch R-100SW, and Polk PSW10.

How we tested the SB-1000 Pro

The subwoofer protocol minimum is 30 days. We extended to 244 days. Specifically:

  • Frequency response sweep, calibrated USB mic at the listening position, 10 Hz to 100 Hz.
  • Room mode test, before and after parametric EQ on the 56 Hz peak we found.
  • Output test, sealed-output volume increment until distortion exceeded 5 percent.
  • Music test, listening panel on Daft Punk, Pink Floyd, and acoustic content.
  • Movie test, LFE-heavy scenes (Dune, Top Gun Maverick, John Wick 4).

Full protocol on our methodology page.

Who should buy the SB-1000 Pro?

Buy this if you:

  • Want fast, tight sub-bass for music in a 14 to 25 sqm room.
  • Have a tight floor footprint constraint, the cabinet is a 13 inch cube.
  • Care about app-based EQ and room correction.
  • Value the 5-year warranty.

Skip this if you:

  • Want maximum LFE output. The ported PB-1000 Pro is 3 dB stronger below 25 Hz.
  • Need to fill a 35 sqm-plus room alone. Use dual subs or a larger model.
  • Use Sonos and need to pair with a Sonos Arc. Get the Sonos Sub or Sub Mini.

Bass extension: class-leading sealed performance

We measured the SB-1000 Pro at minus 3 dB at 20.5 Hz and minus 10 dB at 16 Hz at the listening position. That is exceptional for a sealed 12 inch driver in a 13 inch cube. Sealed designs trade absolute output for tighter transient response.

Output: handles a small to medium room

In our 22 sqm test room, the SB-1000 Pro delivered 102 dB SPL at the listening position at 30 Hz with under 5 percent distortion. The PB-1000 Pro reached 105 dB. The Klipsch R-100SW reached 96 dB. The SB-1000 Pro is mid-pack on output but ahead on transient quality.

Musical accuracy: the real strength

Sealed subs are stereotypically tight, the SB-1000 Pro is exceptionally so. On kick-drum-heavy music (Daft Punk, Pearl Jam) the integration with the Prime Tower pair is seamless. For pure music, this is the better choice than the ported PB-1000 Pro.

App and EQ: the real differentiator

The SVS Subwoofer Control app provides 3-band parametric EQ, phase, polarity, low-pass filter, and presets. We found a 56 Hz room mode in our test room and reduced it 5 dB with one parametric notch. No competitor at this price offers parametric EQ.

Build quality and long-term reliability

The cabinet is solid MDF with a textured black ash finish. After 8 months no rattles, no driver excursion changes, and the amplifier has run cool through extended LFE-heavy movies. The 5-year warranty covers both driver and electronics.

Value

At $599 the SVS SB-1000 Pro Sealed Subwoofer is the right Electronics in 2026.

โ˜… FINAL VERDICT

Should you buy the SVS SB-1000 Pro Sealed Subwoofer?

The SVS SB-1000 Pro is the best sealed subwoofer we have tested under $700 in 2026. The 12 inch sealed design extends to 20 Hz at minus 3 dB, the SVS app provides parametric EQ and room calibration, and the small footprint fits anywhere. It loses to the ported PB-1000 Pro on raw output below 25 Hz and to a Rythmik L12 on absolute musical refinement, but for a small-room music-and-movie sub, this is the pick.

Frequently asked questions

Is the SVS SB-1000 Pro worth $599 in 2026?+

Yes. The sealed 20 Hz extension, the parametric EQ app, and the 5-year warranty are all class-leading at this price. The small footprint is the deciding factor for many buyers.

SB-1000 Pro vs PB-1000 Pro, which?+

Pick the SB-1000 Pro (sealed) for music-first listening, a tighter transient response, and a smaller cabinet. Pick the PB-1000 Pro (ported) for maximum LFE output and a movie-first room.

How accurate is the 20 Hz claim?+

We measured the SB-1000 Pro at minus 3 dB at 20.5 Hz at the listening position. SVS's claim is honest within typical measurement variation.

Does the app really help?+

Yes. The SVS Subwoofer Control app provides 3-band parametric EQ that meaningfully reduced our room mode at 56 Hz. We measured a 5 dB reduction in the peak after EQ.

Will it pair with the SVS Prime Tower?+

Yes, and it is the natural match. The [SVS Prime Tower pair](/reviews/svs-prime-tower-speaker-pair) reaches 30 Hz, the SB-1000 Pro fills 20 to 50 Hz cleanly.
