For a device that stays on every hour of the year, that low draw keeps running costs sensible and the unit runs cool.
The honest limitations
The biggest hardware limit is the ports. The four LAN ports are all 1 GbE, which caps you around 940 Mbps and means a multi gigabit internet plan cannot be fully used through this gateway. If you have a fast fiber plan above gigabit, the Dream Router will hold you back, and that is a real consideration before buying.
It is also dual band only with no Wi-Fi 6E or 7, so there is no 6 GHz band for the latest devices to stretch their legs. And the setup, while powerful, assumes some comfort with networking. Skip it too if you want a true plug and play router with no learning curve, since the Dream Router rewards networking knowledge and can frustrate a complete beginner.

The Ubiquiti UniFi Dream Router brings enterprise grade network management into a home sized, sensibly priced box.
