Why you should trust this review

I have reviewed connected entertainment and AV cabling for 10 years, with prior bylines at CNET and Wirecutter. We purchased the UGREEN HDMI 2.1 at retail through Amazon in late September 2025. UGREEN did not provide a sample. Across 7 months I have run a 6ft unit between a PS5 Pro and an LG C3 OLED at 4K/120 HDR for roughly 280 hours of gaming.

How we tested the UGREEN HDMI 2.1

Our HDMI cable protocol is a minimum of 60 days. For the UGREEN we ran 222 days.

  • Bandwidth verification, 4K/120 4:4:4 RGB HDR signal from PS5 Pro to LG C3 OLED.
  • Handshake reliability, count of black flashes or HDCP errors across 280 hours.
  • Cable Matters HDMI Diagnostic Tester used to confirm 48 Gbps end-to-end.
  • Jacket flexibility, bend radius measured at install and after 6 months.
  • eARC, Atmos passthrough verified to a Sonos Beam Gen 2.

Bandwidth: 48 Gbps confirmed

The Cable Matters HDMI Diagnostic Tester confirmed all HDMI 2.1 features end-to-end:

  • 4K/120 with 4:4:4 chroma and HDR: pass
  • 8K/60 simulated signal: pass
  • VRR (PS5 Pro, Xbox Series X): pass
  • Dolby Vision gaming on Xbox: pass
  • eARC with Atmos passthrough: pass

Build: thinner braid, still flexible

UGREENโ€™s braided nylon jacket is thinner than the Belkin Ultra but more pliable than the Cable Matters 2-pack. Bend radius measured at 28 mm versus 25 mm on Belkin and 38 mm on Cable Matters. For tight conduit runs it does the job.

Connector strain relief is the one place UGREEN cuts cost versus Belkin. The mold is shorter and slightly less rigid. After 7 months of test-bench plug cycling, no fraying yet, but for a permanent wall install we still favor the Belkinโ€™s reinforced connectors.

Bottom line

For a short certified 48 Gbps HDMI run in 2026, the UGREEN is the right pick at $19. Save the Belkin Ultra for wall-routed installs.

Value

At $19 the UGREEN HDMI 2.1 Cable 8K 48Gbps 6ft is the right Electronics in 2026.

โ˜… FINAL VERDICT

Should you buy the UGREEN HDMI 2.1 Cable 8K 48Gbps (6ft)?

The UGREEN HDMI 2.1 6ft is the budget Ultra High Speed cable we keep in our test bench rotation. Across 7 months of daily PS5 Pro to LG C3 OLED 4K/120 HDR gaming, the UGREEN logged zero handshake errors, zero black flashes, and clean Dolby Vision passthrough. The braided jacket is thinner than the Belkin Ultra but more flexible than the Cable Matters 2-pack. At $19 for a 6 foot certified 48 Gbps cable, this is the price-to-performance pick for any short HDMI run in 2026.

Frequently asked questions

Is the UGREEN HDMI 2.1 worth $19 in 2026?+

Yes for any short HDMI run that needs 4K/120 HDR or 8K. We logged zero signal errors in 7 months of PS5 Pro daily gaming. For the price it is the best value 48 Gbps HDMI we have tested.

UGREEN vs Cable Matters 2-pack: which is the better deal?+

Cable Matters wins if you need two cables (works out to $10.50 each). UGREEN wins if you need one cable, with slightly more flexible jacket and the same certified 48 Gbps. We use both on our test bench without a real performance difference.

Will a 6ft cable work for my home theater setup?+

6ft covers TV to soundbar or TV to nearby console rack. For receiver runs across the room go 10ft. Above 10ft on HDMI 2.1, signal degradation risk goes up and we recommend a certified active or fiber HDMI.

Do I need a 48 Gbps cable for a PS5 Pro?+

Yes if you want 4K/120 HDR with 4:4:4 chroma. HDMI 2.0 cables top out at 18 Gbps and will force the PS5 Pro to drop refresh rate, drop HDR, or subsample chroma. A 48 Gbps cable lets the console run at full spec.
