Why you should trust this review
I am a trained chef with 9 years of kitchen-equipment testing experience. Before joining The Tested Hub I ran a test kitchen for Bon Appetitโs Best New Restaurant program (2018 to 2024). I have tested 9 multicookers personally and 80+ kitchen appliances total against real-recipe workloads.
For this review our team purchased the Zavor LUX 6QT at retail in October 2025. Zavor did not provide a sample. Over 7 months I cooked roughly 130 recipes in it, including weekly chuck roasts, monthly chicken stock, weekly yogurt, and ran it side by side with the Instant Pot Pro Plus and Duo Plus.
How we tested the Zavor LUX
Our protocol runs a minimum of 30 days. For the LUX we logged 200 hours across 7 months. Specific tests:
- Pressure ramp-up: 4 cups water cold start, averaged across 5 trials at 8:50.
- Working pressure: pressure gauge fitted to vent during cook, confirmed 14.8 to 15.1 PSI sustained at high.
- Chuck roast: 4-pound chuck pressure cooked at 60 minutes high pressure with 15-minute natural release. Forked-tender across 4 separate cooks.
- Yogurt: 8-hour incubation at 109F with probe thermometer, held within 1.5F.
- Pressure release noise: measured at 1 meter with calibrated dB meter during quick release. Averaged 62 dB.
Pressure cooking: the headline number is real
15 PSI is the headline and we verified it with a calibrated pressure gauge fitted to the vent. The Zavor LUX sustained 14.8 to 15.1 PSI during high-pressure cooks, the highest of any electric multicooker we have tested. In practice that meant a 4-pound chuck roast was forked-tender in 60 minutes versus 75 minutes on the Instant Pot Duo Plus. For dense cuts and stocks this 20 percent time savings is real.
Pressure ramp-up: 20 seconds slower than Instant Pot
The LUX hit working pressure in 8:50 average across 5 trials, about 20 seconds behind the Duo Plus and 40 seconds behind the Pro Plus. Standard deviation was 11 seconds, comparable to the Instant Pot. The slightly slower ramp is the trade-off for the higher target pressure.
Yogurt mode: very close to Instant Pot
The Zavor LUX yogurt mode held 109F within 1.5F across an 8-hour run. That is slightly less tight than the Instant Pot Duo Plus (which held within 1F) but still produces consistent thick yogurt. If yogurt is your headline use, the Duo Plus has a small edge. For everyone else, the LUX is fine.
Build quality: stainless and quiet
The LUX uses a stainless steel inner pot with a reinforced rim that does not flex like thinner competitors. After 7 months and weekly dishwasher cycles, zero coating wear and no warping. The pressure release valve runs noticeably quieter than the Instant Pot, 62 dB versus 64 dB measured at 1 meter. That 2 dB difference is audible in a quiet kitchen.
Where the LUX falls short
The display is small and hard to read across the kitchen. Wi-Fi and app control are not offered on this model. Customer support is slower than Instant Brands by 2 to 3 business days. If those matter to you, look at the Instant Pot lineup instead.
Long-term durability after 7 months
- Stainless inner pot: zero wear after 200 hours of cook time.
- Sealing ring: still flexible, no replacement yet.
- Pressure valve: clean, positive locking.
- Display: small but full brightness.
For power users who want real 15 PSI pressure performance at $119, the Zavor LUX is the under-the-radar pick worth knowing about.

Should you buy the Zavor LUX 6QT Multi-Cooker?
After 7 months and 200 hours of testing, the Zavor LUX is the multicooker I recommend to people who care about real high-pressure performance. It hits 15 PSI working pressure (versus 12 PSI on most competitors), reaches it in 8:50 from a cold start, and at $119 it is cheaper than the Instant Pot Pro Plus. Skip it only if you want Wi-Fi or air fry.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Zavor LUX worth $119 in 2026?+
Yes if you want real 15 PSI pressure performance and a stainless pot for less than the Instant Pot Pro Plus. The Zavor LUX is a quiet power-user pick that beats the Instant Pot lineup on raw pressure number, at the cost of no Wi-Fi and a smaller display.
Why does 15 PSI vs 12 PSI matter?+
Higher pressure means higher cook temperature, which means faster cook times for dense cuts. A 4-pound chuck roast at 15 PSI is forked-tender in 60 minutes versus 75 minutes at 12 PSI. For beans, stocks, and tough cuts this is a real time saver. For everyday rice or risotto the difference is negligible.
How does Zavor compare to Instant Pot on durability?+
Both use stainless inner pots and silicone sealing rings. After 7 months we have seen no differential durability. Zavor's customer support is slower (3 to 5 business days vs 1 to 2 for Instant Brands) but the hardware itself feels equivalent. Sealing ring replacement is around $11 from Zavor versus $13 from Instant Brands.
Can the Zavor LUX pressure can low-acid foods?+
No. The USDA does not approve any electric multicooker for pressure canning, including the Zavor LUX, despite its higher PSI rating. Use a stovetop pressure canner with a tested gauge for canning. The Zavor LUX is a cooker, not a canner.
