Why you should trust this review
I have been reviewing pour-over and coffee gear for 9 years with prior bylines covering the original Fellow Stagg, the Hario Buono, and the Bonavita stovetop gooseneck. I purchased this Stagg Pour-Over at retail in March 2025 and put roughly 1,200 boils through it across 14 months. The Stagg lives in my main pour-over station with a Cosori electric and a Stagg EKG Pro on the test bench for direct A/B context.
Numbers in this review came from a K-type thermocouple at the spout, a kitchen scale for water volumes, and a stopwatch. Where a number is from Fellowโs spec sheet, I say so explicitly.
How we tested the Fellow Stagg Pour-Over Kettle
- 1,200 boils across 14 months on gas, induction, and electric coil cooktops
- Pour rate measured via scale for 4mm and 8mm stream widths
- Boil speed timed on 1,800W induction across 20 sessions
- Cooktop compatibility verified on gas, electric coil, induction, and ceramic
- A/B against Cosori Electric Gooseneck and Stagg EKG Pro on the same beans
- See our methodology page for the kettle testing protocol
Who should buy the Fellow Stagg Pour-Over Kettle?
Buy the Stagg stovetop if you brew V60, Chemex, or Kalita Wave at home and you want the best pour control on the market under $100. The brass-tipped spout and counterbalanced handle are the engineering features that make the EKG Pro the gold standard, and they are present on the $79 stovetop too.
Skip the Stagg stovetop if you do not own a cooktop you trust for fast boiling. Skip if you want built-in temperature readout, the Cosori electric is a better fit at the same price.
Pour control: surgical precision
The brass-tipped gooseneck delivers a tightly controlled stream from 4mm at slow pour rates up to 8mm at fast pour rates. The brass tip prevents the dribble and post-stream drip that plagues lesser goosenecks. By tilting more aggressively the stream widens predictably. For V60, Chemex, and Kalita Wave brewing the Stagg pours are the cleanest in the test set.
Counterbalanced handle: the engineering detail
The handle is positioned so that the center of mass sits over the wrist when the kettle is held at pour angle. That eliminates the forward torque that makes most goosenecks fatiguing on long pours. After 60 second Chemex pours the Stagg feels stable, the Cosori does not.
Capacity: 1.0L covers Chemex
The 1.0L usable capacity is enough for a full Chemex 8-cup brew (1L for 60g of coffee) with no refill. The Cosoriโs 0.8L is short for that brew, the Stagg EKG Proโs 0.9L is a hair short, and the Stagg stovetop hits the sweet spot.
Cooktop compatibility: every common surface
Tested on gas, induction, electric coil, and ceramic cooktops. Boil time on a 1,800W induction hob is about 4:30 for 1L from cold. Gas was 5:00 on a medium-high flame. Electric coil was 5:30. All cooktops produced consistent pour-over results.
Build quality: full stainless, no shortcuts
The body is full stainless with a brushed or matte powder coat finish. The handle is a heat-resistant polymer with a steel core. The brass tip is solid brass press-fit into the gooseneck. After 14 months of daily use there are no scratches, no rust, and no warping. The brass tip has darkened slightly with patina, which most owners consider an aesthetic plus.
Value
At $79 the Fellow Stagg Pour-Over Kettle is the right Home & Kitchen in 2026.

Should you buy the Fellow Stagg Pour-Over Kettle (Stovetop, 1L)?
After 14 months and roughly 1,200 boils, the Fellow Stagg Pour-Over Kettle is the right stovetop gooseneck at $79. The 1L capacity covers Chemex 8-cup, the counterbalanced handle places the center of mass over the wrist, and the brass-tipped gooseneck spout pours a 4 to 8mm stream with surgical control. Works on gas, electric coil, induction, and ceramic cooktops. The right pick for owners who want the Stagg pour quality without paying $245 for the EKG Pro.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Fellow Stagg Pour-Over Kettle worth $79 in 2026?+
Yes for owners who want the best pour control under $100 and already own a thermometer or want to add the Stagg thermometer lid. The pour quality matches the $245 EKG Pro and the build quality is the same.
Stagg stovetop vs Cosori electric for pour-over?+
Buy the Stagg stovetop if you want better pour control, larger capacity, and you already have a thermometer or cooktop you trust. Buy the Cosori electric if you want built-in temperature control and the convenience of a cordless base.
Does it work on induction?+
Yes, the stainless body is induction compatible and heats efficiently. Boil time on a 1,800W induction hob is about 4:30 for 1L from cold, similar to a 1,500W electric kettle.
Do I need the optional thermometer lid?+
Recommended for pour-over coffee. The base kettle has no temperature readout and judging 195F by eye is unreliable. The thermometer lid is roughly $20 extra and turns the Stagg into a true precision tool.
