Dash Deluxe Rapid Egg Cooker - Best Overall
The Dash Deluxe does everything I need: hard, medium, and soft boil for up to twelve eggs, plus a poaching tray and an omelette tray. The buzzer is loud enough to hear from another room. It has been my daily cooker for over a year with zero issues.
Check price on Amazon →I poached, hard-boiled, and soft-cooked my way through a dozen egg cookers to find the five that actually save time without ruining breakfast.
I am the person who used to ruin eggs at least twice a week. Either the yolk set hard or the white slid off the toast in a sad puddle. After buying my first egg cooker three years ago I have not had a bad breakfast since, so I made it my mission to test the best models available now. These five are the ones I actually finished testing without resentment. I focused on poaching first because that is the hardest job for a small countertop appliance. I also looked at hard and soft boiling, omelette inserts, capacity, noise, and how easy each unit is to clean by hand because nobody wants to disassemble a steamer at 7 a.m.

Dash Deluxe Rapid Egg Cooker - Best Overall

Cuisinart CEC-10 Central Egg Cooker - Best for Larger Families
This one handles ten eggs at once and has a sturdier base than the Dash. I used it for weekend brunch with four people and never had to run a second batch. The stainless lid feels much more durable.
Hamilton Beach 25500 Egg Bites - Best for Egg Bites
Technically a different format, but if you love Starbucks-style egg bites this little unit nails them in under ten minutes. I make a week of breakfasts every Sunday and reheat them.
Krups F23070 Egg Cooker - Best for Soft-Boil Precision
The Krups uses a clever water-level system instead of timers, so soft-boiled eggs come out identical every time. It is the most consistent unit I compared, though it only handles seven eggs.
Elite Gourmet EGC-007 Poacher - Best Budget Poacher
If you only need poached eggs, this twenty-four dollar unit does it well. The non-stick cups release cleanly and the small footprint is great for tiny kitchens.
Frequently asked
For consistency, yes. I get the same yolk every morning without watching the clock. The pot still wins if I am only making one egg.
A drop of oil or non-stick spray in each poaching cup before cracking the egg solves it for me. Silicone cups release the easiest.
