We bought the Blueberry Pet Classic for our Beagle Charlie in May 2024 because we needed an everyday collar that did not cost $25 and was not the kind of weak supermarket polyester that frays in three months. Twelve months later, the collar still looks like a collar. The pink has faded slightly. The webbing edges have minor fuzz. The plastic buckle has cosmetic scratches. None of those things have affected the function. That kind of one-year service for $10 is what makes Blueberry the volume choice in the budget collar category for a reason.
Why you should trust this review
I cover pet equipment for The Tested Hub and have used budget polyester collars on three different dogs across eight years. We purchased the Blueberry Classic at retail from Amazon in May 2024. Blueberry has no involvement in this article. I have personally tested Lupine Pet, generic Petco-house brand, and one regional artisan biothane brand on the same dog across overlapping windows.
How we tested the Blueberry Classic
- 12-month daily-wear test on a 28 lb Beagle
- Weather exposure across all four seasons in the Pacific Northwest
- Color check at month 0, month 6, and month 12 with photo comparison
- Buckle and D-ring inspection at month 6 and month 12
- Three deliberate wash cycles in cold water with mild detergent
- Cross-tested briefly against a Lupine Pet Original on alternating weeks
Who should buy the Blueberry Classic
Buy it if you want a budget polyester collar that will hold up at least a year, if you want color choice (there are 35+ options), or if you have multiple dogs and want a coordinated set without a $90 price tag. Skip it if your dog swims regularly (use biothane), if your dog is a known collar chewer (any polyester loses to a chewer), or if you need padded comfort (step up to a Ruffwear Frontrunner).
Color durability across a year
The pink colorway we tested has faded approximately one shade across 12 months. That is mild for any polyester product exposed to year-round Pacific Northwest weather including UV, rain, and salt road treatment. By comparison, a generic supermarket collar we tried for two months on the same dog faded faster and frayed at the edges. Blueberry uses a higher-grade polyester than the bottom tier of the market.
Hardware quality, the metal D-ring matters
This is the spec that separates Blueberry from cheaper options. The D-ring is real metal, properly stitched into the webbing with reinforced backstitching. We have hung tags from it, attached leashes to it, and pulled on it for 12 months without any sign of fatigue. The buckle is plastic side-release, which is the standard limitation at this price tier. It works fine but it is not metal.
Comfort across daily wear
The 0.6 inch width is on the slimmer side. For a Beagle that is appropriate. For a 60 lb dog we would step up to the Large size at 0.875 inch. The webbing is soft enough at the back of the neck that we have not seen fur loss or rub spots in 12 months. Charlie has worn this collar approximately 16 hours a day, every day, for a year.
Odor resistance and washing
This is the real limitation. Polyester soaks up odors. Three machine washes across the year (cold water, mild detergent, air dry) have brought it back to a clean baseline each time. If you do not wash a polyester collar at least every few months you will smell it. For a dog that swims, expect to wash more often. For our other collar reviews and the testing methodology, see those links.
Sizing notes
The Medium fits an adjustable range of 12.5 to 18.5 inches. We bought based on Charlieโs neck measurement at 14 inches and we had room on both ends. Blueberryโs size chart is honest. Measure first, do not rely on breed estimates.
The Blueberry Pet Classic is not a premium product and does not pretend to be one. It is a solidly-built $10 polyester collar that lasts 12+ months with normal wear and gives you 35+ color choices. Recommended at $9.99 in 2026.

Should you buy the Blueberry Pet Classic Solid Color Dog Collar?
The Blueberry Classic is the right collar for owners who want a clean polyester everyday option without paying $30. The webbing is heavier than most collars at this price, the metal D-ring is real (not painted plastic), and after 12 months on our daily-wear Beagle the color has held up better than two competing collars on the same dog. It is not biothane, it is not waterproof, and it will eventually fade. But for one year of daily wear at $10, it does the job that most owners need.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Blueberry Classic worth $9.99 in 2026?+
For everyday wear on a moderate-energy dog, yes. The polyester is heavier than most collars at this price and the metal D-ring is the right material for a tag attachment.
Blueberry vs Lupine, which should I buy?+
Blueberry for budget and color variety. Lupine for slightly heavier webbing and a stronger guarantee policy. Both are good choices at this price tier.
Will it last more than a year?+
Probably yes for a non-swimming dog with a normal activity level. Our 12-month test unit still has structural integrity and we expect another year of service. Heavy chewers and frequent swimmers will see faster wear.
Is it waterproof?+
No. Polyester soaks up water and dries slowly. For pool or beach dogs, biothane (different price tier) is the better material.
