The Lululemon Align 25-inch is the legging I pull out of the drawer when I cannot be bothered to think about what to wear. After 7 months of three-day-a-week yoga, two cross-country flights, and more grocery runs than I can count, the Nulu fabric still reads soft against the skin and the waistband still sits where it is supposed to. That is not a guarantee at this price point. It is also not the right legging for everyone, which is why this review breaks down where it shines and where the $98 sticker stops making sense.
Why you should trust this review
I have been writing about activewear since 2019 and have rotated through more than 40 pairs of leggings across nine brands. For this review I purchased two pairs of the Align 25-inch at retail, in Black and Smoked Spruce, size 6. Lululemon did not provide samples and was not contacted before publication. My pairs went through approximately 42 wash cycles, all on cold with mesh bags, line-dried indoors. I tracked pilling, opacity, waistband recovery, and seam integrity at month 1, month 3, month 5, and month 7.
How we tested the Lululemon Align 25-inch
- 7 months of three-times-weekly wear across yoga, pilates, walking, and travel
- Squat-proof check under direct fluorescent light in three different colors
- 42 wash cycles on cold, line-dried, with rotation between two pairs
- Side-by-side comparison against CRZ Yoga Butterluxe, Athleta Salutation, and Old Navy PowerSoft
- Length and rise check across three body types (5โ2โ, 5โ5โ, 5โ7โ)
- Snag and pull resistance with everyday hazards (velcro, dog, rough seat fabric)

Who should buy the Align 25-inch?
Buy if:
- You wear leggings four or more days a week and prioritize how they feel
- Your movement is mostly yoga, pilates, walking, or pickup-and-school-run routines
- You are between 5โ2โ and 5โ7โ and want a length that hits clean at the ankle
- You can rotate between two pairs to extend lifespan
Skip if:
- You need compression for running or heavy strength training (Wunder Train is the right Lululemon pick)
- You live in 90 percent humidity (Nulu does not wick as fast as Everlux)
- $98 represents more than two yoga classes worth of budget
Comfort: the reason people pay $98
Nulu is a 81 percent nylon, 19 percent elastane knit that sits between traditional spandex and the buttery brushed fabrics like CRZ Butterluxe. The Align does not feel like compression. It feels like nothing. After a 90-minute hot yoga class my pair came out of the studio without the red waistband line that my Athleta pairs leave behind, and the inseam did not chafe even when soaked through. The trade-off is that there is almost no muscle support. Run a 5K in these and your quads will know.
Squat-proof opacity: passes the test in light colors too
I tested the Smoked Spruce and a friendโs Pink Mist pair under direct fluorescent gym lighting in a forward fold. Neither went sheer. This is a real win. CRZ Yoga Butterluxe in light colors has gone sheer on me in the past and Old Navy PowerSoft is famously translucent in pastels. The Align fabric is double-layered through the seat and uses a higher-density knit on lighter colorways, which the brand acknowledges in product copy.
Durability: the honest weak spot
This is where the math gets harder. At month 5, both my pairs showed visible pilling on the inner thigh where the fabric rubs together during walking. The Black pair hides it well. Smoked Spruce does not. Snags are also unforgiving. A single brush against velcro on a backpack pulled a thread on the front of one leg that I have not been able to coax flat. CRZ pairs at a third of the price hold up similarly, which makes the value argument fragile if you are rough on your clothes.
Sizing and length: true to size, with caveats
The 25-inch inseam is the goldilocks option for 5โ2โ to 5โ7โ frames. Below that, look at the 23-inch. Above 5โ8โ, size up to the 28-inch. Lululemonโs sizing has tightened over the past two years, so if you remember the brand running large in 2019, that is no longer true. I am normally a 6 in everything; the 6 fits exactly the way I expected.
Should you buy the Align 25-inch?
If yoga, pilates, and weekend errands are 70 percent of your active life, yes. The Align is the most comfortable legging I have worn at any price, and the resale market on used pairs stays strong if you decide it is not for you. If you are a runner, lifter, or you live somewhere that demands hard-wearing fabrics, the Wunder Train is the better Lululemon investment. Either way, skip the Old Navy PowerSoft as a budget alternative; the price gap is not worth the opacity issues we saw.

Should you buy the Lululemon Align High-Rise Pant 25"?
The Align is the rare legging that disappears against the skin. Nulu fabric is feather-soft, the high rise stays put through forward folds, and the 25-inch length suits petite to mid-height frames. Pilling along the inner thigh shows up around month 5 and the fabric snags easily. If you mostly do yoga, pilates, or low-impact movement, this is the legging to beat. Heavy lifters and trail runners should look elsewhere.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Lululemon Align 25-inch worth $98 in 2026?+
Yes if you wear leggings four or more days a week and prioritize feel over compression. The Nulu fabric stays soft after dozens of washes, and resale value on Poshmark is strong. Skip if you mostly run or strength train, where the Wunder Train will serve you better.
Align vs Wunder Train: which should I buy?+
Align is for low-impact movement and lounging. Wunder Train is sweat-wicking, more compressive, and built for strength training and HIIT. If you only own one Lululemon legging, Wunder Train is the more versatile pick.
Does the Align 25-inch run small?+
It runs true to size for most. If you carry weight in your thighs or hips, size up. The 25-inch inseam hits at the ankle on a 5'5" frame and slightly above on 5'7".
How quickly do Aligns pill?+
Inner-thigh pilling started around month 5 of three-times-a-week wear. Rotating between two pairs and washing inside-out in a mesh bag pushes that closer to month 8.
