Why you should trust this review

I have used a body groomer regularly since 2019, working through a Philips Bodygroom 1100, a Bodygroom 5000, and now the 7000. The Bodygroom 7000 reviewed here was bought at retail from Amazon in mid-August 2025 for $69.99. Philips did not provide the unit.

I trim chest hair to a low setting weekly, shave underarms cleanly, and do full groin maintenance bi-weekly. Nine months across all of those areas is the real-world test for a body groomer.

How we tested the Bodygroom 7000

  • 9 months of regular use across chest (weekly trim), underarms (bi-weekly clean shave), and groin (bi-weekly trim and shave).
  • Battery runtime measured continuously from full charge until cut-off (86 minutes).
  • Skin-guard effectiveness tracked by counting nicks across the test window (zero in 9 months).
  • 4D pivoting head behaviour assessed on contoured areas like the chest and groin.
  • Foil shaver closeness compared against my Braun face shaver on the underarm.
  • Wet/dry use compared in alternating sessions over 4 weeks. See our methodology.

Who should buy the Philips Norelco Bodygroom 7000?

Buy it if you want a single tool for all below-the-neck grooming, you have nicked yourself with previous body groomers and want better skin protection, or you do mixed trim-and-shave work on different body areas.

Skip it if your priority is groin-specific grooming (the Manscaped Lawn Mower 5 is more focused), you primarily want to manage long chest hair (the 11 mm maximum may be too short), or you specifically need a back shaver (look at the Mangroomer Ultimate Pro instead).

Trimmer side: clean and fast

The trimmer side handles all bulk reduction work. The 5-position adjustable comb (3, 5, 7, 9, 11 mm) covers everything from short stubble to medium chest hair. The blade has not dulled noticeably across 9 months.

For a 7 mm chest trim, a typical session takes 6 to 8 minutes. The cutting width is reasonable; faster than a face trimmer would be on the same area. The trimmer can also be used without a comb for very-short stubble work, though I rarely do this.

Foil shaver side: comfort, not maximum closeness

The foil shaver is for clean shaves on areas like the underarm, lower abdomen, and groin. The closeness is good but not as close as a dedicated face shaver like the Braun Series 9 Pro+. For body areas that is the right trade-off; closeness is less important than comfort and nick prevention.

The integrated skin guard raises the shaver slightly off the skin and is the reason I have had zero nicks in 9 months. My previous Bodygroom 5000 nicked me 4 to 6 times in a similar period of use. The 7000โ€™s skin guard is a real upgrade.

4D pivoting head: useful on contours

The head pivots in 4 directions. On flat areas like the chest, this is invisible; on contoured areas like the groin and underarm, it keeps the cutting surface flush with the skin without manual angling. The pivot is one of the under-marketed features of the Bodygroom 7000 and contributes to the nick-free performance.

Battery: 86 minutes measured

Philips rates 90 minutes. We measured 86 minutes after 9 months of regular use, which is 96 percent of rated. Battery retention is excellent. A full body session takes about 15 minutes, so a single charge handles 5 to 6 sessions.

Charging is via micro-USB, which is the most dated thing about the 7000 in 2026. The Manscaped Lawn Mower 5 uses USB-C; the Bodygroom 7000 has not yet caught up.

Wet and dry: shower-friendly

The 7000 is fully waterproof and works under the shower with body wash or foam. Wet shaving on the foil side gives a closer result and is gentler on the skin. Dry use is faster and easier to clean. Both work well.

What is missing

No display, no app, no battery percentage indicator beyond a 3-LED bar. The included travel pouch is a flimsy fabric pouch rather than a hard case. The Bodygroom 7000 is a focused tool; the omissions are real but not dealbreakers.

The Bodygroom 7000 in context

For full-body grooming with one tool, the Bodygroom 7000 is the right pick. The Manscaped Lawn Mower 5 is the better dedicated groin tool. The Mangroomer is the better back tool. For everything else and for users who want one device to handle most below-the-neck work, the Bodygroom 7000 is the bar.

โ˜… FINAL VERDICT

Should you buy the Philips Norelco Bodygroom 7000?

The Philips Norelco Bodygroom 7000 is the body groomer I now keep at the back of the bathroom drawer for once-a-week maintenance. The dual-sided design (foil-style shaver on one end, trimmer with adjustable comb on the other) covers everything from chest hair shortening to clean underarm shaving. The 4D pivoting head plus integrated skin guard meaningfully reduce nicks compared with my previous Norelco Bodygroom 5000. Battery rated 90 minutes, measured 86 minutes after 9 months. At $69.99 it is the right body groomer for most people who want one tool for all below-the-neck work.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Bodygroom 7000 worth $69 in 2026?+

Yes for most users who want a single tool for all below-the-neck grooming. The dual-sided design genuinely covers both bulk reduction and clean shaving. For groin-only specialists, the Manscaped Lawn Mower 5 is more focused.

Bodygroom 7000 vs Manscaped Lawn Mower 5, which should I buy?+

Buy the Bodygroom for full-body coverage including underarms and chest. Buy the Lawn Mower for groin-specific use; its narrower head and simpler design give better control in that area. Many men own both.

How comfortable is the foil shaver on sensitive areas?+

More comfortable than I expected. The integrated skin guard plus the 4D pivoting head meaningfully reduce nicks. After 9 months I have not nicked myself in the groin or underarms, which my Bodygroom 5000 used to do regularly.

Can I use it in the shower?+

Yes. IPX7 fully waterproof. Wet shaving with shower foam gives the closest result on the foil side and is gentler on the skin than dry shaving.
