Why you should trust this review

I bought the Roborock Q Revo at retail from Amazon for $799 in September 2025, after running an iRobot j7+ Combo for 4 months and finding that the wet-wipe mopping was not enough for an active kitchen. Roborock did not provide a sample. The Q Revo has run roughly 200 cleaning cycles across a 1,800 sq ft household with hardwood, tile, and area rugs, alongside the j7+ Combo (kept as a comparison unit) and a Shark Matrix Plus 2-in-1 added later.

The household has a 70 lb retriever and a kitchen that hosts daily coffee spills. The question this review answers is whether a robot can replace manual mop sessions, and the short answer is yes for maintenance, no for deep cleans.

How we tested the Roborock Q Revo

  • 200+ cleaning cycles across 8 months in a 1,800 sq ft pet household
  • Pickup measured by weighing pre-distributed debris (Cheerios, sand, hair) before and after runs
  • Mop scrub quality tested with dried coffee residue, mustard splatter, and milk drip
  • Auto-wash dock effectiveness tracked by visual inspection of pads after each cycle
  • LiDAR mapping reliability tested across furniture moves and 1 carpet replacement
  • Cross-compared against Roomba j7+ Combo on identical floor area
  • See our methodology page for the full standardized protocol

Who should buy the Roborock Q Revo?

Buy it if:

  • You want real mopping performance, not just a damp wipe
  • You have hardwood and tile and you spill things in the kitchen
  • You can spare 24 x 17 inches of floor for the auto-wash dock

Skip it if:

  • Your home is mostly carpet (the mop is wasted)
  • You have a heavy-shed pet (S8 Pro Ultraโ€™s anti-tangle brush is worth the upgrade)
  • You want best-in-class obstacle avoidance for pet messes (Roomba is better there)

The Q Revoโ€™s LiDAR sensor maps 1,800 sq ft in one mapping run, with no photo training and no need to mark obstacles manually. After 8 months and 1 furniture rearrangement, the map has held without errors. The PreciSense navigation runs efficient parallel rows on hardwood and switches to a perimeter-and-fill pattern on rugs.

The j7+ Comboโ€™s PrecisionVision is better at avoiding pet messes specifically. The Q Revo will run around a recognizable obstacle but will roll through fresh dog mess if it cannot identify it as one of its trained obstacle classes. In 8 months, no actual mess incidents, but I trust the j7+ more on this specific risk.

Mopping: the feature that justifies the price

The dual spinning microfiber pads rotate at 200 RPM and apply downward pressure as they spin, which produces actual scrub action. In paired tests against dried coffee residue (cup of coffee spilled the night before, dried), the Q Revo cleaned 9 of 10 spots cleanly. The j7+ Comboโ€™s wet wipe smeared all 10 without lifting them.

For maintenance mopping (daily kitchen-floor refresh), the Q Revo replaces my old habit of grabbing a Swiffer twice a week. For deep cleaning (a real Method floor cleaner with elbow grease), I still pull out a manual mop quarterly.

Pickup: strong on hardwood, decent on carpet

In paired pickup tests, the Q Revo scored 94% on hardwood and 87% on low-pile carpet. The j7+ Combo scored 91 and 84 in the same room layout. The Q Revoโ€™s 5,500 Pa suction shows on harder pickup tasks like sand and pet hair embedded in low-pile carpet.

The carpet pickup still trails any decent cordless vacuum. For carpet maintenance the Q Revo is fine; for a real carpet clean before guests arrive, run a Dyson V12 Detect Slim or equivalent.

Auto-wash dock: better than expected, not magic

After each cleaning cycle the dock washes the mop pads with 100 mL of clean water from the clean tank, scrubs them against a built-in textured pan, and air-dries them with a fan. The pads come out genuinely clean for the next cycle, with one caveat: residue builds up on the pads over a week, and they need a hand-rinse under a hot tap to fully clear it.

The clean and dirty water tanks are easy to refill and empty. I top up the clean tank weekly and dump the dirty tank every 5 to 7 days.

App and ecosystem

The Roborock app is functional but not delightful. Schedules, room-specific runs, and no-go zones work as advertised. App pairing has dropped 4 times in 8 months and required re-pair, which the j7+ has not done. Alexa and Google Home integration work for voice activation.

Build quality

After 8 months and 200 runs, the rubber-rolling brush has minor wear but is still original. The mop pads have been replaced twice. The auto-wash dock fan still spins quietly. The dock and robot pair has stayed reliable across the full test window.

Value

At $799 the Q Revo costs $170 more than the Roomba j7+ Combo and the difference buys you spinning-mop scrub action plus an auto-wash dock. If mopping matters in your household, that is worth the upgrade. If it does not, save the money.

โ˜… FINAL VERDICT

Should you buy the Roborock Q Revo?

The Roborock Q Revo is the robot vacuum and mop I now reach for first. After 8 months and 200 cleaning cycles, the dual spinning mop pads scrubbed dried coffee residue off tile that the wet-wipe pads on the j7+ Combo could not touch, the LiDAR navigation mapped 1,800 sq ft in one run, and the auto-wash dock cleaned and air-dried the mop pads after every cycle. At $799 it costs more than the Roomba j7+, and the spinning-mop performance is the feature that earns the difference.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Roborock Q Revo worth $799 in 2026?+

Yes if you want real mopping performance from a robot. The dual spinning pads scrub residue that wet-wipe robots cannot touch. If you do not care about mopping or you mop manually, the [Roomba j7+ Combo](/reviews/irobot-roomba-j7-combo) is a better deal.

Q Revo vs. S8 Pro Ultra, what is the difference?+

The S8 Pro Ultra adds a self-clean roller (no hair tangling), better suction, and an obstacle-avoidance camera, for $400 more. After 8 months on the Q Revo I have detangled the brush 3 times. If you have a heavy-shed pet, the S8 Pro Ultra is worth the upgrade. Otherwise, save the money.

How well does the auto-wash dock work?+

Well enough to use, not well enough to skip manual maintenance. After each cleaning cycle the dock washes the mop pads with 100 mL of clean water and air-dries them with a fan. After 7 days, hand-rinse the pads under a hot tap to clear the residue the dock cannot reach.

Does the mop function work on carpet?+

The mop pads lift 7 mm when the robot detects carpet, which is enough to keep them off most low-pile and mid-pile rugs. On thick rugs (over 15 mm pile), set a no-mop zone in the app. We have not had a wet-rug incident in 8 months.
