The PRX Powermatic 80 single-handedly revived the affordable integrated-bracelet category in 2021, and four years later the recipe still works. The 1978 Tissot PRX inspiration, the 40mm case at 10.4mm thick, and the 80-hour Powermatic 80 movement are the three things you cannot find together anywhere else under $1,000. After 10 months on the wrist this is the watch I reach for when I want one piece that does dress, casual, and a beach trip without complaint. The Si silicon hairspring is the quiet upgrade most people miss; it pushes accuracy to +/- 10 sec/day and resists the magnetism that ruins lesser watches in a daily-wear context with phone speakers and laptop magnets.

Why you should trust this review

I am a watch journalist and collector with a 14-piece personal rotation. I purchased this PRX at retail through an authorized dealer in summer 2025. Tissot did not provide this unit. Independent timing checked weekly with a Lepsi Watch Scope app and against time.gov. See our methodology page for how we structure long-term watch reviews.

How we tested the PRX

  • 10 months of daily-rotation wear, approximately 3,000 hours
  • Weekly timing on a Lepsi Watch Scope, 6 positions monthly
  • 18 swim sessions in pool and shower
  • Power-reserve test from full wind to stop, 5 cycles
  • Bracelet stretch and clasp wear logged monthly
  • Crystal scratch inspection in raking light at month 10
  • Magnetic resistance test with a 50G magnet near the case (passed, no impact)

Who should buy the PRX Powermatic 80?

Buy this if you want one watch that handles dress, office, and weekend casual, you appreciate integrated bracelets, or you want sapphire and an 80-hour automatic at the lowest credible price. Skip it if you actually dive (100m is splash), you need micro-adjust on the clasp, or you want the watch as primarily a dress piece (the bracelet is sport-leaning).

Movement: Powermatic 80 with Si hairspring

The Powermatic 80 (ETA C07.111 base) runs at 21,600 bph with an 80-hour power reserve, hacks, hand-winds, and uses a Nivachron-licensed silicon hairspring. The Si hairspring is the difference-maker for daily wear because it resists magnetism that would offset a steel hairspring. Our unit averages +4 seconds per day at month 10, which is COSC-grade despite Tissot not certifying this as a chronometer. Power reserve measured 78 hours from full wind to stop.

Bracelet and case integration: the headline feature

The integrated bracelet tapers from 26mm at the case-end to 18mm at the clasp, with five-link construction and articulation that fits to the wrist contour. The bracelet uses pin-and-collar links, sized at a watch-tool kit or by a jeweler. The fold-over clasp has a single push-button release and unfortunately no micro-adjust, which is the single feature I would add at this price. The case finishing is brushed across the top of the case and bracelet with polished sides on the case bezel, the right combination for a sport watch.

Dial and crystal: sapphire that earns the price

The dial is a tapisserie-style waffle pattern with applied indices and a date window at 3 oclock. Under direct light the waffle reads three-dimensional. Under indoor light it reads as a plain matte dial with subtle texture. The hands are dauphine-style with a polished bevel. The sapphire crystal has interior anti-reflective coating and after 10 months has zero hairlines despite a desk-wear context.

Comfort and proportions

At 138 grams on the bracelet the watch is balanced. The 40mm case at 44.5mm lug-to-lug fits down to a 6.5-inch wrist comfortably, and the 10.4mm thickness slips under any cuff without binding. After 10 months it has been my most-worn watch and I do not see that changing.

โ˜… FINAL VERDICT

Should you buy the Tissot PRX Powermatic 80 T1374071104100?

The PRX Powermatic 80 is the watch that re-launched the integrated-bracelet category for under $1,000, and it deserves the credit. After 10 months the Powermatic 80 movement gains 4 seconds per day on this unit (well inside spec), the 80-hour power reserve bridges a long weekend off the wrist, and the integrated bracelet tapers and articulates beautifully. The 40mm case at 10.4mm thick is the slimmest auto in this segment. At $725 it earns the price. Compromises are a clasp without micro-adjust and limited dial color availability in 2026.

Frequently asked questions

Is the PRX Powermatic 80 worth $725 in 2026?+

Yes. The integrated-bracelet integration, 80-hour power reserve, Si silicon hairspring, and sapphire crystal at this price together earn it. The Citizen Tsuyosa at $400 is the budget alternative.

PRX vs AP Royal Oak: how close is the homage?+

The PRX is inspired by 1970s integrated-bracelet sport watches including the Royal Oak and Genta-era pieces. It is its own design with a Tissot heritage going back to 1978. The proportions and finishing are different from the Royal Oak.

How accurate is the Powermatic 80?+

Rated +/- 10 seconds per day with the Si silicon hairspring (better than COSC for daily wear). Our unit averages +4 sec/day at month 10. The Si hairspring resists magnetism, which is the practical advantage over a standard hairspring.

Can I swim in the PRX?+

The 100m rating allows swimming and showers. We have swum laps in it 18 times across the test period without issue. For diving choose a dedicated dive watch with ISO 6425.
