Why you should trust this review
I purchased eight Wyze Bulb Color units at retail in mid-November 2025 to evaluate as a budget alternative to Philips Hue. Wyze did not provide samples. The bulbs have been in daily use across 8 fixtures for 6 months.
How we tested the Wyze Bulb Color
See /methodology for the standardized smart bulb evaluation protocol.
- Color quality: Compared color rendering vs Philips Hue.
- Wi-Fi reliability: Tracked disconnect events across 6 months.
- Voice control: Tested via Alexa and Google Home.
Who should buy the Wyze Bulb Color?
Buy this if:
- You want smart color bulbs at a budget price.
- You are happy with Alexa or Google Home (not Apple).
Skip this if:
- You use Apple HomeKit. Hue or LIFX is required.
- You are deploying 30+ bulbs. Hue Bridge ecosystem is more reliable.
Color quality and Wi-Fi
The 16 million color range is genuinely good. Wi-Fi reliability is mostly stable with occasional disconnects.
Value
At $13 the Wyze Bulb Color is the right budget smart color bulb in 2026. Hue is the premium upgrade. For most users, Wyze is the answer.

Should you buy the Wyze Bulb Color (16 Million Colors A19 Smart Bulb)?
The Wyze Bulb Color is the cheapest smart color bulb that genuinely competes with Philips Hue. The 16 million color range delivers similar quality at one-quarter the price, the direct Wi-Fi connection eliminates the need for a hub, the Wyze app supports schedules and routines, and the Alexa and Google Home integrations work cleanly. The trade is no Apple HomeKit support, occasional Wi-Fi disconnect events, and a less mature ecosystem than Hue.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Wyze Bulb Color worth $13 in 2026?+
Yes for budget smart lighting. The 16 million color range and Wi-Fi simplicity deliver real smart-bulb experience at one-quarter the Hue price. For Apple HomeKit support, Hue or LIFX are required.
Wyze vs Philips Hue: which should I buy?+
Different priorities. Hue is the premium ecosystem with Bridge stability and HomeKit. Wyze is the budget alternative with direct Wi-Fi. For 1-2 rooms or budget-conscious users, Wyze. For whole-house deployment, Hue.
Will the Wi-Fi disconnect?+
Occasionally. Across 6 months on 8 bulbs, I have logged perhaps 8 disconnect events. All resolved within 30 seconds when the router stabilized. Heavier Wi-Fi-traffic homes may see more issues.
Can I use Apple HomeKit?+
No native HomeKit. For HomeKit support, choose Hue or LIFX instead. Wyze does support Alexa and Google Assistant.
