Why we tested the Kuat NV 2.0
The NV 2.0 is the rack that mountain bikers point to when they want to brag, but the price is steep. We wanted to know whether the integrated repair stand and finish justify the gap over a Thule or Yakima.
What we liked
The trailhead repair stand. Halfway through a weekend in Bentonville we needed to swap a chain, and rolling the bike off the rack into the integrated arm felt absurdly luxurious. The rest of the rack works just as well as a top tier Thule.
What could be better
Price. You are paying about $300 over a Yakima HoldUp EVO for the stand and the finish. If you never use the stand, that money is wasted.
Value
At $899 the Kuat NV 2.0 Hitch Bike Rack is the right Sports & Outdoors in 2026.

Should you buy the Kuat NV 2.0 Hitch Bike Rack?
The Kuat NV 2.0 is the only mainstream hitch rack with a real integrated repair stand, and that single feature changes how you use it. After a muddy trail ride you can pull the stand out of the side of the rack, lift the bike into it, and clean and check the drivetrain in the parking lot. The platform itself is excellent too, with a front tire hook, tilt access, and orange detailing that makes every other rack look plain. It is expensive but for two bike trail families it is the rack to own.
Frequently asked questions
Does the repair stand work well?+
Yes for cleaning, lubing, and checking shifting. It is not as rigid as a dedicated $300 home shop stand, but it is excellent at the trailhead.
Will it carry e-bikes?+
Yes up to 60 pounds per tray. Heavier cargo e-bikes need a rack designed specifically for that load class.
Is it worth the price over the Thule?+
If you actually use the repair stand on rides, yes. If you have a home stand and only need transport, the Thule T2 Pro XTR delivers the same hauling experience for less.
